Employees In Action

We think that the desire to give and the urge to contribute is pretty much in the DNA of every Vail Resorts employee.  Echo for Employees helps to bring out these qualities by coordinating employee involvement, developing creative engagement programs and just remembering to give an old-fashioned “pat on the back” to those who do worthy things.

Our ultimate goal is to make giving back at Vail Resorts second nature.  Thanks to the hundreds of stories and thousands of hours of volunteerism, we’re well on our way.

Vail Resorts Employees Get Dirty For Hayman Restoration Partnership

As part of our mutli-faceted commitment to the Hayman Restoration Partnership, the Company committed 1,500 employee volunteer hours over three years. In June 2011, 105 employees volunteered 840 hours to restore the Trail Creek Watershed.

“Volunteers have accounted for nearly $1 million of labor in trying to help stabilize and restore the landscape. Much of the work that has been done is directly the result of folks like the Vail crew coming out and getting dirty. So much of the seeding and planting would never have happened without their tireless support.”

Working Together to Help Our Forest

"Together with the Keystone Property Management team, I spent the day volunteering for the Bristlecone Legacy Forest tree planting at the Frisco Peninsula. I had a great time planting trees and working with a lot of people from around Summit County to replant this area that has seen significant pine beetle damage. It was fun to work with and watch the kids as they ran to get the mulch and trees and placed them in the hole and covered them up. One of the best things to see was our teamwork - one would dig, one would get the tree and the mulch, then all come together with great pride to plant that little tree. I felt privileged to be a part of it."

Youth Foundation Brings out Books...and Dancing Shoes

"Soon after I moved to a 'mountain town' I searched out opportunities for involvement as a way to feel connected to the community. One amazing organization is the Youth Foundation, which provides children's literacy programs, academic achievement and enrichment programs. And I have been lucky enough to volunteer - reading to kids, promoting events and more.
"But my highlight for volunteering was to be part of a charity function where you are asked to perform in front of 600-plus people. Each year The Youth Foundation puts on the Star Dancing Gala, and like the popular show, we got to dance with professional dancers. I sometimes wonder why I got myself into this, but the answer was always, it's for charity; you’re doing it for the kids!"

Hospitality Brings Comforts of Home to Denver Women's Shelter

"Volunteering  at the Denver women's shelter as part of our Hotel Leadership meeting team building was an experience of a lifetime We spent the better part of a day painting, decorating and bringing cheer to a woman and her 3 children that are residing at the shelter until they can get on their feet. It makes you realize how fortunate we are to be working for a company that is passionate about giving back to our  communities"
