Employee Recognition

Among the amazing work Vail Resorts employees contribute, many cases stand out. Each month we recognize two great examples of employee volunteerism with the Vail Resorts Echo Award and the Green Soldier Award. These awards showcase the energy and dedication that just seem to emanate from each Vail Resorts employee.

A common thread of accomplishment runs through all the winners of VR Echo employee recognition awards. Click here to see their stories and maybe gain a little inspiration.

The Vail Resorts Echo Award
VR Echo wants to honor those VR employees who best embody the spirit of the VR Echo program. Every month we will recognize an employee who is giving back to our communities, lending a hand to those who need help the most or are taking steps to protect our environment. And we want everyone's help in nominating fellow employees who should be recognized for their dedication.

What are the guidelines for nomination?

  • An individual who is making a difference – either for the local environment or in the community where they live or work.
  • The person being nominated can be a regular volunteer at a non-profit or someone who took a one-time great idea they had from concept to implementation.
  • The "great idea" or the nominee's efforts can be related to work or it can be a personal commitment.
  • Nominees must be VR employees.

This is a monthly award so we'll announce a new winner at the end of each month. For the May award, nominations are due to Nicky DeFord by Wednesday, May 13th. The winner of the VR Echo Award will receive a different prize every month, and will be automatically nominated for the annual Epic Echo award given each Fall.

So please send in your nominees with a 200 word or less description of how they represent the spirit of VR Echo. If you have a nominee, please include a photo of them at work!

The Green Soldier Award

The Green Soldier award recognizes employees that set a standard for all Vail Resorts employees in an area of environmental stewardship, innovation or action. The Green Soldier award was created to emphasize that environmental stewardship is critical to all aspects of Vail Resorts as a company. Winners are selected monthly by the Environmental Manager at each participating resort.

To nominate an employee for the Green Soldier Award, send a short paragraph about why the person is deserving to your resort's Environmental Manager. The Environmental Manager in Keystone is Frank Papandrea; in Breckenridge is Dave November; and in Vail is Adam Bybliw.
