Dr. Seuss Wants You...To Help With Read Across America Day
What's Read Across America Day?
|Dr. Seuss shared the magic of reading with millions kids across generations. So it is only fitting that a national event to celebrate reading and literacy, Read Across America Day, should be marked with Dr. Seuss's birthday - Wednesday, March 2, 2011. In the US, one in every four children grows up not learning how to read. Read Across America Day, the nation's largest reading event, raises awareness about the importance of reading. And, it gives communities an opportunity to show the next generation the places they can go if they make reading a priority.

You're never too old, too wacky or wild,
To pick up a book and read with a child.
You're never too busy, too cool or too hot
To pick up a book and share what you've got.
There are kids all around you, kids who will need
Someone who'll hug them, someone who'll read.
